The Story

Global3d.uk is a small start-up British company set up by myself, Ross Grimshaw. I started out in the Engineering Industry where I trained as a toolmaker/precision engineer and moved into the Construction Industry where I then qualified as an Electrician, eventually making my route into the film industry.

I now have over 14 years experience working within the lighting department on anything from low budget television to Major Motion Pictures as a rigging, practical and shooting electrician.

With a passion for 3D printing I noticed a void within the lighting department for small, fully customisable LED lighting suitable for everyday use on set. This got me thinking about how I could make affordable lights of any shape or size using the technology of a 3D printer. After months of research, CAD design and testing I came up with a product which can be assembled by the customer using their own spec of LED and diffusion, or by us as a ready to use product.

 

Since then, the passion to design and create has spread to all things on set. From iPad cases that can be mounted on stands, to wireless access point mounts, to clips and brackets that hold up small lights.

 

We're now all about making what you want, from CAD design to manufacturing, film industry related or not!
